Some Jews Rethink Gun Control and Gun Ownership

The reason is sad, but the response is appropriate. Jared Silverman, writing in the New Jersey Jewish News, rethinks gun control after a series of anti-Semitic acts, including a firebombing. Among the comments is one that the attitude that one should rely on the police amounts to saying:
“Don’t strike me or I’ll beg you again!”
As another said about gun and gun owner registration:
As another commenter has pointed out, the people who came for the Jews in Germany were the police. And they came first for those Jews who had registered their firearms in accordance with the laws of the Weimar Republic. Why would you demand that your name be put on a list before you exercise your rights? This isn’t Schindler’s List, it’s the Gestapo’s list.
Why trust the government to protect you when it was the government which came for your grandparents?
