Concealed Carry of Guns on Private College Campuses?

Say Uncle has a short post on the issue of concealed carry on college campuses, and a distinction, commonly made in such discussions, is made here: Most states which allow carry on public university campuses allow private colleges and universities to ban such, on the theory that private owners should control their property.

Commenter 17, tho, brings up an interesting issue:
So a basic civil right can be eliminated on private property at the property owner’s whim? Why then can’t plantation owners keep slaves? Is the claim here that the 13th Amendment applies despite this “private property” thing, but the 2nd Amendment doesn’t?
Hmmmmmm.....

Mandatory National Service isn't...

...fascist/communistic/slavery because it would serve the national need.

Suppose, though, that our wise leaders decided that the national need included working on the Census after putting the Census under the direct control of the White House...while a Republican was in office?

What is this fascination with threatening peaceful people with state violence? Are these people into Bondage & Domination, too? Snuff flicks? They strike me as philosophically anti-American. But then, I think America was supposed to be about Liberty.

Silly me. Liberty is slavery.

Fascists to the left of them, Fascists to the right of them...

Into the Valley of Fascisti rode Geert Wilders. At least he is trying to, at the invitation of Members of Parliament. The Home Secretary has something else in mind:
Government bans Dutch MP Geert Wilders from entering Britain after Muslim leaders threaten to organise mob protest.

...Geert Wilders..., has been told he cannot enter the UK. Wilders was due to speak to fellow Parliamentarians at the House of Lords tomorrow and show his film ‘Fitna’...

Yesterday Wilders was presented with a letter written on behalf of the Home Secretary stating that she ‘is satisfied that your statements about Muslims and their beliefs, as expressed in your film Fitna and elsewhere would threaten community harmony and therefore public security in the UK.’
Perhaps threaten the harmony of the community of violently fundamentalist Islamists which the British government preemptively bends over for at every opportunity.
Numerous extremist clerics still come into this country each year and numerous others...remain happily untroubled by our authorities despite being filmed calling for the murders of Jews, homosexuals, Hindus, Muslim apostates and others. This country hosts many ambassadors – official and unofficial – for terrorist organisations such as Hamas and Hezbollah who call for the annihilation of whole peoples. These people do not find themselves deported, nor barred from entry or re-entry into the country.
Yes, well, you see, Jews, homosexuals, Hindus, and Muslim apostates don't run around killing people who disagree with them, so it is SAFE to insult, threaten, and assault them.

Not so the enemy, to who Her Majesty's Government so eagerly presents the preemptive bend over (PBO).

"to cleanse India of foreign influence"

I bet this has Coke and Pepsi quaking in their cola nuts.

Don't worry, it won't smell like urine and will be tasty too," ( Om Prakash, head of the Cow Protection Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), India's biggest and oldest Hindu nationalist group) told The Times from his headquarters in Hardwar, one of four holy cities on the River Ganges. "...it's going to be very healthy. It won't be like carbonated drinks and would be devoid of any toxins."
"It", of course, is a soft drink made from cow urine. RSS also expects that it will "promote its ideology of Hindutva, or Hindu-ness", according to the London Times.

Successful or not, it beats killing Christians. Well, at least from the Christian perspective. Others obviously disagree, apparently even within the RSS.

I can just see the corporate motto now, emblazoned on buses and billboards across the country: "Doesn't Smell Like Urine!! Tasty Too!!"

Color me ethnocentric, but this is weird. India did have a Prime Minister awhile back, tho, who began his day by drinking a juice glass of his own urine. And I thought that was weird, too. So sue me.

Gun Free Zones

AKA Victim Disarmament Zones:

I haven't decided if the first comment should be considered a hoot, or scary:
If all concealable and assault weapons are banned and thus no longer available for purchase in the US, then there will soon be no concealable or assault weapons for criminals to possess.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Gun free zones are just a way to authorize police to take measures to detect and prevent guns from entering particularly vulnerable areas like schools or airports. Obviously without metal detectors and proper surveilance (sic) the concept doesn't do anything....
I love quotes like this: They seem always to come from people who think Republicans and Nazis are one and the same. "Disarm the People! Bushitler! Bushitler! Make America safe! Take away our guns! Bushitler! Bushitler!"

They can't all be glue and paint sniffers, so where does all the brain damage come from?

Collar illegal aliens/trespassers/litterbugs: Get yer rear sued off.

Well, now, here's a story to make an economic elitist's blood boil:
An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol, he said, after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home....

Trial continues Monday in the federal lawsuit, which seeks $32 million....

Attorneys for the immigrants...who were trying to cross illegally into the United States - have accused Mr. Barnett of holding the group captive at gunpoint, threatening to turn his dog loose on them and saying he would shoot anyone who tried to escape.
Actually, if they were on Barnett's ranch, they weren't trying, they had ALREADY crossed illegally into the US. But his ranch was stolen from the noble Mexican economic elite way back when, so he really is the trespasser, right?

This may be his real crime:
The lawsuit said he...Mr. Barnett acknowledged that he had turned over 12,000 illegal immigrants to the Border Patrol since 1998.
This is clearly a guy who has to be stopped. 12,000 innocent law breakers? This guy is lucky he hasn't been lynched as a warning to other uppity property "owners".

Jerry Seper has the story in the Washington Times.

A number of the commenters are pretty hot under the collar, though they, for some reason, direct their bile at the illegals and or CDIW. Go figure.

John Kerry on the "Stimulus" bill

He detects a bug in the tax cut ointment:
If you put a tax cut into the hands of a business or family, there's no guarantee that they're going to invest that or invest it in America.

They're free to go invest anywhere that they want if they choose to invest.
I have a fantasy of a multi-legged John running across the TV screen, screaming RAID!!!!!!
