Sounds Like Fun Stuff

Ah, the joys of being a chemistry nerd:
The memory is stil with me - the most sickly and sweetish smell of rancid gasoline combined with rotten water melons, with undertones of stale sweat, pig carcass, a hint of garlic, moldy oranges, russian-made aftershave and a cheap household air freshener… its a whole package, and rather sweet one – like isonitriles or cyclopentadiene but magnified thousand times. A whiff of that thing and you feel that your nose just suffered a stroke and will hopefully die and peal off so that you never smell that thing again.

NRA Members: Traitors Fit for Firing Squads?

Christopher Swindell, Professor of Journalism, in the Charleston, WV, Gazette:
Probably the most serious miscalculation...is the guest list for the NRA speaker's podium. To let the half-wit half-term quitter Sarah Palin have a microphone is to alienate the very people Republicans need to work with on future legislation....

...The NRA advocates armed rebellion against the duly elected government of the United States of America. That's treason, and it's worthy of the firing squad....

... To support the new NRA president's agenda of arming the populace for confrontation with the government is bloody treason. And many invite it gladly as if the African-American president we voted for is somehow infringing on their Constitutional rights.
Ah, yes: it is so foundationally important that criticism of the President be based only upon racist objection to half his ancestry. There obviously cannot be any objection based on policy, nor is there any argument save that of racism that the government is infringing in any slight degree any Constitutionally enumerated rights. After all, the president is elected, therefore anything the President does is constitutionally authorized. If you disagree, you can only be doing so because you are racist. Just ask the AP. Or James Rosen. Or True the Vote. Or Gibson Guitar. I expect they would all tell you right up front that their objections to The President Who Was Elected are based entirely upon their own racism.

Has the Democratic Party Been Taken Over by People Who Are Fundamentally Anti-American?

The Democratic Party appears to be completely under the control of people filled with hate and intolerance, who proudly bring the power of the state down on anyone they dislike.

As someone commented online a few days ago, don't think that totalitarianism is imposed overnight. It grows, then grows some more, and keeps growing, until finally it is too late.

"No Problem" vs "You're welcome."

My favorite comment: "I think, but don't say back: "You're d--m right it's no problem. It's your job.""

Thanks to JBR for the lead.

Is Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie a Communist?

Heck if I know, but I doubt that it would surprise anyone in Hawaii.

Trevor Loudon has the story at the Hawai'i Free Press.

Is there a difference between a run of the mill Hawaii Democrat and a Marxist? So far as I can see, not enough to bother making a distinction. I am not aware of anyone who does.
