Gillian Gibbons in the Sudan

Off with her head!

And her arms.

And legs, too, of course.

Then jump up and down on the bits.

But start by shooting her.

Mohamed Osman has the AP story:

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) -- Thousands of Sudanese, many armed with clubs and knives, rallied Friday in a central square and demanded the execution of a British teacher convicted of insulting Islam for allowing her students to name a teddy bear "Muhammad." ...They called for Gibbons' execution, saying, "No tolerance: Execution," and "Kill her, kill her by firing squad."
Several British Muslim organizations are speaking out against her conviction. I wonder what dangers they are running in doing so. I guess we'll find out when some of them are murdered for being insufficiently Islamic.

One aspect which is getting little if any comment: Whether she intended to give offense or not is irrelevant. No one should be prosecuted or physically attacked for blasphemy or giving offense. But these are exactly the laws which the Islamists want to impose on the rest of the world. Death for blasphemy. Yep: It isn't just the future. It's already here for many in the Muslim world. And it's spreading.
