President Obama & ACORN

Why change his "Fight the Smears" website?

Doug Ross has some examples and ideas. Scroll to the fourth paragraph.

I guess they were just clarifying.

Georgia O'Keeffe at the Whitney Museum

Holland Cotter has a positive review in the New York Times of a Whitney exhibit of Georgia O'Keeffe's early abstract paintings and drawings. I've long thought they were the most beautiful things she did; Cotter apparently agrees.

The paintings, mostly from the time of the First World War, remained in O'Keeffe's storerooms until after her death. I've seen several as the Milwaukee Art Museum was able to buy some of the finest.

The article is accompanied by a dozen photos, including one of a Milwaukee Art Museum painting.

Mary Travers 1936-2009

Mary Travers, of Peter, Paul, & Mary, has died in Danbury, CT.

PP&M were my favorite group in the 1960s and '70s. Probably still are, for that matter.

UPDATE: The New York Times also has a lengthy obituary.

ACORN San Diego

Here is some background on the nefarious right wing smear of ACORN.

Here is a link to the latest video, from the San Diego office. The second is quite hard to understand- it was largely recorded in a stairwell, but the first is clear enough. It sounds like the ACORN guy is saying he has contacts at the Tijuana border crossing and in the San Diego District Attorney's office who can facilitate the illegal immigration of 12 El Salvadoran sex slaves, aged 12 to fifteen. No problem.

ACORN Makes the Daily Show

ACORN San Bernardino, CA

Pulitzer Prize? Well, no: It doesn't fit the narrative. But video Number 4 by Hannah Giles, posing as a prostitute, and James O’Keefe, posing as her pimp and political aspirant, shows their visit to yet another ACORN office where they asked for help setting up a brothel for underage Salvadoran prostitutes. For the fourth time, ACORN was happy to help.

More here, because you aren't likely to see this on NBC, CBS, ABC, the New York Times, or the Washington Post.
