The Boat House of Milwaukee's East Side
I remember driving past the Boat House ever since I was a kid. It's just a few blocks west of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Steve Schmidt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has a story about it with lots of pictures. Five hundred square feet, never a boat, it was built in the 1920s as a house which looks like a boat.
I'll bet a nickel that today one could not under any circumstances get a building permit for so much joy.
Enjoy it.
