Washington Post Expose' On Scott Walker

It's ugly, too:
...he had trouble showing up on time for French.

...his father was a Baptist minister.

...On campus (Marquette U in MKE), Walker made a close group of friends, who gathered weekly to...cook dinner on Sunday nights. They remember Walker as fun, upbeat and cautious...

...“Kind. He’s very kind,” said Mary Riordan, a friend who is now a speech pathologist. She could remember four medical emergencies in which Walker volunteered to drive her to the hospital....“Scott carried me eight blocks to his car and drove me to the hospital,” Riordan said.

...“God’s honest truth,” said Quigley, remembering the epic un-hipness of their debates. “I remember him talking about being an Eagle Scout.”

...“I thought that the guy was too nice to ever be successful in politics,” Satran said.
Vicious racist lies. All of them. I hope Walker stands up for what is good and decent and demands a retraction and an apology. Then they can all get together at his house for a Puppy Milkshake Summit.

Lloyd's Insurance on Solar Storm aka CME Effects On North America

Gotta love that British understatement:
...major and widespread social unrest, riots, and theft…major global financial impacts…major disruption to transport, food supplies, emergency and hospital services…would quickly effect water and fuel supplies, sewage systems and flood defenses… potential for large-scale, long-term economic and societal chaos
Power outage…good scenario: 16 days. If new transformers are needed: minimum 5 months. Ok, maybe 16 months. Bad scenario: 1-2 years.

You can find the whole understated report here. It's only 16 pages.

Federal Ban On Interstate Transfers Of Firearms Unconstitutional

This may well be appealed, but if it stands, it will be a meaningful improvement for would-be handgun buyers. United States District Judge Reed O'Connor ( Northern District Of Texas, Fort Worth Division) has struck down the federal ban of transfers of handguns by Federal Firearms License holders to out of state residents, under both the 2nd Amendment and the 5th Amendment:
the Court concludes that Defendants have not shown that the federal interstate handgun transfer ban is narrowly tailored to be the least restrictive means of achieving the Government’s goals under current law. The federal interstate handgun transfer ban is therefore unconstitutional on its face.

The Court further finds, in the alternative, the federal interstate handgun transfer ban is unconstitutional when applied to the facts of this case....

... the Court finds that the federal interstate handgun transfer ban also violates the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution...

...Accordingly, the Court DECLARES that 18 U.S.C. § 922(a)(3), 18 U.S.C. § 922(b)(3), and 27 C.F.R. § 478.99(a) are UNCONSTITUTIONAL, and Defendants are ENJOINED from enforcing these provisions.
The 28 page PDF is here. As a practical matter, this will increase competition in states like Hawaii which have few gun dealers, and dramatically cut transfer costs for those who might want to buy a handgun while traveling in another state.

Obama’s Historical Legacy

Charles Kesler, editor of the Claremont Review of Books, one of 53 historians interviewed by the New York Magazine:
what...will matter...to future historians? The manner of Obamacare’s passage told the story—a party-line vote, reeking of special-interest side deals, on an unpopular, indigestible, multi-thousand-page love letter to bureaucracy, crudely packaged as a reconciliation bill to avoid filibuster, and falsely sold, in read-my-lips promises that would come back to haunt Obama, as the most conservative possible approach to health-care reform. This was liberalism à outrance—its last desperate surge to win at any cost what it could no longer even imagine winning honestly and on the merits.

“Less Hamas, more hummus”

It was ‘very poorly received’ in Beirut, he concludes.

Some people don't have much of a sense of humor, I guess, unless they think burning people alive, raping them, or cutting off their heads is just plain funny.

The rest is predictable, from the Muslim faction known as the Religion of Peace or I'll Kill You:
A French street artist was severely beaten up in Paris after refusing to remove a work of art calling for coexistence between Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

Street artist Combo was physically assaulted in eastern Paris on Saturday after refusing to take down one of his artworks, French newspaper Le Monde reported.

On a wall in the Porte Dorée neighbourhood, the 28-year-old put up a picture of himself wearing a djellaba (a full bodied outer robe common in Arabic-speaking countries) and then painted the word “co-exist” next to it, replacing the “c” with the Islamic crescent, the “x” with the Star of David, and the “t” with the Christian cross.

Four men approached the artist and insulted him, demanding that he remove the painting. The artist wrote on his Facebook page that when he refused to comply, all four of them beat him up severely, leaving him with a dislocated shoulder and bruises.
More here.

BTW: Making it illegal to carry weapons, for practical purposes puts the government -any government which does so- squarely on the side of the criminals. Disarming the victims while being unable or unwilling to arrest and lock up criminals who attack the decent members of society is unequivocally pro-criminal.
