New York Times: ‘vexed’ and ‘incendiary’

“Joseph R. Biden Jr. will travel to Kenosha, Wis., on Thursday and his campaign has unveiled a new television ad condemning the rioters and looters that have vexed some American cities...” Vexed. As in “I’ll vex you with a baseball bat and a flaming bottle of gasoline!” Vexed? “...Mr. Trump...countered Mr. Biden’s moves with two new ads seeking to leverage civil unrest in incendiary fashion as a wedge to divide the Democratic coalition....” ‘In INCENDIARY fashion’? After three months of the Democrat shock troops burning down cities with encouragement and explicit support of Democratic mayors, Democratic prosecutors who turn arrestees loose without their ever seeing the inside of a cell and refusing to prosecute them, and Biden campaign committee members contributing money to bail funds so those who are briefly locked up can be released the same night so they can vex cities with some more flaming bottles of gasoline, Trump acts in INCENDIARY fashion? “ Mr. Trump is trying to prosecute those arguments and persuade voters to see threats to public safety...” Uh, ‘persuade’? As in ‘perceive vexatious firebombings encouraged by Democrats‘ as a threat? ‘...which so far have been limited to sporadic violence in some cities...” The Blitz was limited to sporadic violence in some English cities, of course. The Civil War was limited to sporadic violence in some states. The Russian pogroms against Jews were limited to sporadic violence in some places. The Lebanese Civil War was limited to sporadic violence for fifteen years. I’ll bet the the whole lot of them didn’t realize they were vexed, though. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/02/us/politics/biden-ads-trump.html

Political Violence

I’ve been saying for some time that 2020 will likely see the most violent Presidential campaign of our lifetimes. It’s now July, the conventions haven’t even been held, and we are already seeing mind numbing violence in major cities around the country, aided and praised by mayors, city council members and governors alike.

They allow the mob to pull down statues, not merely of Confederate generals, but an abolitionist who was killed at Antietam (Madison, Wisconsin), George Washington and Thomas Jefferson for participating in a slavery system which predated their births worldwide for thousands of years, Columbus, Cervantes (!), Lincoln, for being insufficiently race sensitive, and the targeting of police around the country.

And the mayors applaud.

However this turns out isn’t likely to be good.

What would happen if the police stopped responding?

I wonder what would happen if Chicago government refused to remove bodies from the streets, under a ‘You made the mess, you clean it up’ policy.

Just leave them. June, July, August... It would get ugly in a day or two, and stay ugly. I know, it’s a sick, dark, fantasy which won’t come about, but just what would happen?

I don’t know what can be done in the short run to reduce the violent crime rate in places like Chicago. Judging from news reports and commentary, as I don’t live in such an area, the politicians who represent those districts seem to believe the major problem is homicidally racist cops who leave home in the morning hoping for an excuse to murder some innocent minorities.

If they really believe that, then they should be calling for the police to stop servicing those area. Just stay out. Let the neighborhoods take care of their own issues. It actually would be an interesting experiment, but I think that in order to have any hope of a positive outcome (at least from a non-criminal perspective) one would have to allow non-criminals to arm themselves.

My guess is that in that scenario, the seriously bad guys wouldn’t last long. I lived in Milwaukee back during the crack wars. There was an interesting incident which kind of fits the scenario, though of course the police did intervene:

A guy complained several times to the police that crack dealers were operating on the sidewalk in front of his house. Broad daylight. Seriously degrading life for decent ie non-criminal people in the neighborhood.

Nothing happened. No arrests, no imprisonments, crack dealers just kept dealing crack in front of his house. For weeks, maybe months. It was a long time ago and I’m fuzzy on that.

So one day the guy decided he had had enough of crack dealers in front of his house and an unresponsive government. He stuck a 12 gauge shotgun out the window and ended that crack dealer’s career.

Then of course the police showed up.

So, suppose they didn’t show up anymore, and all the decent people knew they wouldn’t?

As a moral issue, the government has no legitimate powers which the People have not delegated to it. If the government refuses to exercise those powers in a responsible manner, then the People have a right to take back those powers. So, if government has a legitimate power to protect individuals and neighborhoods from violent criminals, it is only because the people, having that same right, have delegated it to government.

Now, ideally, that would mean going through the peaceful political process, but in real life that process has collapsed in places like Chicago. So, since government has clearly decided they aren’t willing to exercise their powers, maybe the decent people who have to put up with the reality of criminals openly operating could simply take back the powers delegated and do the job themselves.

I have trouble thinking that would be any bloodier or sicker or more immoral than the system we have today in parts of Chicago, Los Angeles, or Baltimore. Right now it looks to me that for practical purposes the government is on the side of the violent criminals. Government disarms all the potential victims but lets the criminals run free in the Disarmed Victim Zones the government created.

How sick a system is that?

Putting An Anti-Undocumented Immigrant Hater In His Place

You apparently don’t understand: the US doesn’t produce enough native-born scofflaws, so we have to import foreign-born scofflaws to make up the shortage.

In order to be sure we aren’t wasting our tax dollars on law-abiding immigrants, we have to be sure we are importing actual scofflaws. The best way to do that is start with people whose very first act, crossing the border, is illegal. That way we know they have the right attitude.

The best kind of scofflaw is one who grew up in a country and culture which understands that rule of law is a scam to prevent dishonest people from getting ahead in life. They get here already understanding that government exists for the purpose of separating the poor from as much of their earnings as possible, and if we lure enough such people into the country with immediate subsidies, they will overwhelm the outdated rule of law attitudes of the local Americans and law-abiding immigrants who bothered to get green cards.

You gotta get with the program or else we will never join the poverty stricken countries which rightfully dominate the world.

Look at California: those people understand the importance of having no respect for the rule of law, and it shows up in the results.

In barely a generation they have gone from an exemplar of law-abiding Western Civilization middle class prosperity right back to noble Third World ultra-stratified poverty stricken masses with a tiny group of stunningly rich on the coast.

You need to understand that we can make the same achievement, but only if we put our minds to it, and repudiate lawful behavior. We need more scofflaws to show us the way. Almost a third of prisoners are Scofflaw-Americans. Well, actually Scofflaw-Hondurans, Scofflaw-Mexicans, Scofflaw-Guatemalans, and so forth. The real shortage today may actually be Scofflaw-Iranians and Scofflaw-Arabs, and people like you with your negative attitudes toward the Constitutional right of hostile foreigners to come here at will is a large part of the problem.

As our revered Senator Mazie Hirono said: “Just shut up.” Learn your place in society. You aren’t here to tell people like Maizie that you are dissatisfied with her policies. Your place is to ‘just shut up’. Or else.

And stop being so hide bound: pay your local legislators a few bucks under the table now and then when you need something done. Just like in Third World countries. Working together, we can do it!

Will California Secede?

In the face of The Donald whupping Crooked Hillary, there have been some noises about secession made by California Democrats.

My take: If California Democrats ever get serious about seceding, the Democratic National Committee will send organic polysexual ninja hit squads out there to kill every Democrat they have to in order to stop them.

Without Californian US Reps they could never hope to control the House, and without CA Democrat electors they would never again win the Oval Office.

I think the Republicans are smart enough to realize the security calamity and economic calamity of losing CA, so they would probably pat the Dems on the head and and say 'You go, girls!'

Biased 'News'

From a recent e-conversation:

Correspondent: 'Then again, since the press is biased I hardly know what is true and what isn't.'

My reply:

That has become the big problem I see, and a huge part of that problem is that the majority of people DON'T see it. It is almost impossible for an interested person to figure out what is fact and what is lie, and the average person watching TV news and reading news and commentary will not even be aware that they might be on the wrong end of a very big and very successful propaganda campaign, like 'Trump is a virulent ant-Semite (whose son in law, daughter, and grandchildren are Jewish but don't bother me with facts, you racist. CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, NPR, PBS tell me it is true, so it must be.'

Whenever I take the trouble to find source documents on a controversial issue, such as the Google engineer's 10 page memo a couple weeks ago, I discover that the the news people have been lying through their teeth.

I frequently can't tell what the lie is. In the James Damore/Google case, did they lie by implying they had read it ie were competent to characterize/comment on it, or did they read it and deliberately misrepresent what it said? Either way, while I don't know which lie they told, I know they lied, because I read the memo and know what they said about it was not merely a different characterization, but utterly removed from what he actually said, AND I read what respected biologists and evolutionary psychologists said about Damore's memo and they said he was right about the science.

Now we have the vast majority of so-called news people and bien pensant commenters claiming that Trump is a neo-Nazi because he pointed out correctly -as did the ACLU- that BOTH the racists and the Antifa fascists went to the rally prepared to commit violence. The "news" position, as well as Trump's political critics' position, seems to be that if the white racists are bad people, then the Antifa angels who showed up with paint balloons, ink balloons, apparently with urine balloons, were peaceful civil rights advocates who were attacked without provocation. And that despite Antifa violent behavior elsewhere, which of course is routinely characterized as 'mostly peaceful', much like the Berkeley response to conservative speakers coming to campus.

It is really scary that most of the country is falling for the lies told by propagandists in the so-called news services and in high government positions. This really is not a lot different from Europe in the early 1930s, and I think it is going to get a lot worse, especially if the propagandists succeed in overturning the results of the election. Too many people are aware of what they are doing for this to remain peaceful.

Now we have Google shutting down websites -offensive ones, to be sure- based on their political positions. Where does that stop?

'War for the Planet of the Apes'

Valerie and I went to the latest incarnation this afternoon. Not awful if you take it straight, not particularly good, either.

As anti-white, anti-American, anti-US military metaphor, though, it couldn't get much more heavy handed.

White American Special Forces troops herd all-black apes into Nazi-like concentration camp, play the Star Spangled Banner, beat the black folk mercilessly, starve them mercilessly, wave the American flag, suffer attack aka civil war from other American troops who come from the North, the American flag goes up in flames, avalanche kills all the white people, and the black apes hike off to the Promised Land, free at last from white people. Just what you should expect from a Woodie Harrelson movie.

My Proposed Constitutional Amendment

Frankly, I think that high government officials who claim the right to simply 're-interpret' Constitutional provisions out of existence should get fair trials for treason, followed by imprisonment or swift and public hangings, but that is unlikely to happen. Don't like the Constitution as it stands: amend it. Don't think you can get that done? Tough beans.

I'd approve this proposed Constitutional Amendment, which I wrote:

"Any legislator voting into law a bill later found not constitutionally authorized, shall be imprisoned not less than one year, nor more than five. Any legislator voting in favor of a law later found to be Constitutionally prohibited shall be imprisoned for not less than five years nor more than twenty. Any executive signing into law any such bill shall suffer the same penalty. (Hi, George Bush of McCain-Feingold) Sentences for multiple offenses shall run consecutively. These penalties shall apply to federal, state, county and municipal legislators and executives. Violators shall be exempt from pardon.

A defense against the charge of assault or murder of a public official shall consist of proof the legislator or executive voted for or signed into law a Constitutionally prohibited bill."
Put THAT into the Constitution and the SOBs will pay attention to their responsibilities. No personal costs: No respect. Would it paralyze the governments at every level? I hope so: that is it's purpose. Don't worry: you know what chance of passage it has.

The Slow Overnight Collapse of Venezuela

This is the best short description I've seen recently about the industry by industry collapse of Venezuela -once the richest country in South America- into...well...collapse like tin foil hat wearing preppers worry about. It can take many years for a prosperous country to fall apart, it just looks sudden at the end. No toilet paper, refrigerators are worthless because there is electricity only two days a week, but that's really OK because there is no food to put in the non-working refrigerators.

Now they don't even have enough money to pay for printing more inflationary currency, and the foreign printing companies which were flying it in, in fleets of 747s, have stopped because Why trust Venezuela to pay the printing and shipping bills?

Between corruption and Marxism, and corrupt Marxism, and Marxist corruption, the Venezuelans have well and truly buggered each other left, right, and upside down. Right along with all the good, decent people who did NOT vote this calamity.

There Was A Reason We Seceded From Britain...

...and there still is.

Pam Geller, if you don't recall, organized the Mohammed Cartoons show in Garland, TX, at which Muslim murderers arrived to slaughter the crowd, only to be gunned down by security.

It didn't get nearly the news play which was accorded far less important events.

Secretary of State Kerry believes mass murders by Muslims, such as in Paris, have a certain "legitimacy" because they are offended by cartoons. This, of course, may be extended to those who cut off Christians' heads and sell Christian girls into sex slavery. Christians who protest are anti-Muslim bigots.

But we already knew that.

Colleges Deduct 50 SAT Points For Being Asian-American

Gotta love that Race Conscious admissions policy.
Lee's next slide shows three columns of numbers from a Princeton University study that tried to measure how race and ethnicity affect admissions by using SAT scores as a benchmark. It uses the term “bonus” to describe how many extra SAT points an applicant's race is worth. She points to the first column.

African Americans received a “bonus” of 230 points, Lee says.

She points to the second column.

“Hispanics received a bonus of 185 points.”

The last column draws gasps.

Asian Americans, Lee says, are penalized by 50 points — in other words, they had to do that much better to win admission.

“Do Asians need higher test scores? Is it harder for Asians to get into college? The answer is yes,” Lee says.

The Los Angeles Times has the despicable, racist, story.

Hawaii, New York, & Wisconsin Prohibit Employment Discrimination Against Criminals

James Jacobs, writing at the Volokh Conspiracy, Washington Post:
Hawaii, New York, and Wisconsin make employment discrimination against ex-offenders (CBED) unlawful, unless an employer can show that successful performance of the job would be jeopardized by a person with a propensity for the kind of crime for which the job seeker had previously been convicted.
These are all bad laws.

Here's why.

Jimmy Carter On The Charlie Hebdo Slaughter

Mr. Carter was on Jon Stewart's comedy show:
...former President Jimmy Carter asserted that the recent violence in France could be attributed to the failure to reach a solution to the Palestinian problem and the terror attacks are a reflection of and a reaction to how Arabs are treated in Israel. He also blamed unemployment in Islamic countries....

His formula, he said, is for Israel to give up the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem and for the Palestinians to promise Israel security.t (sic) should be noted that the terrorists who perpetrated both of the attacks had absolutely no connection with Palestinian organizations, nor did they express any outrage towards Israel.

In light of Mr. Carter’s comments, it might also be noteworthy that he turned ninety-years old last October.
Of course, Jimmy Carter also has said Hamas should be recognized as 'legitimate': :
Former president and international peace activist Jimmy Carter is urging the U.S. government to recognize Hamas as a “legitimate political actor”
Just why is such a position an obscenity? Why does his position put Jimmy Carter squarely on the side of anti-Jewish genocide? Because the genocide of the Jews is exactly the stated purpose for the existence of Hamas.

Think I'm a nut case? Of course you do. How could Hamas be in favor, much less dedicated to, genocide? How could Jimmy Carter call them 'legitimate'?

Read the Hamas Covenant, available at the web site of the Yale University Law School Library, and then tell me I'm a nut. Until you have read Hamas' founding document, which is still in effect, you might think they are legitimate.

And that is exactly what genocidal anti-Semites want you to think.

Hi, Jimmy.

PS: My comments on excerpts from the Hamas Covenant are here.

Act of War By North Korea?

If the conclusion by the FBI that North Korea committed the Sony hack, followed by threats of violence for screening "The Interview", the comedy about Kim Jong Un, would the hacking constitute an act of war?

If so, what is our government going to do about it? Open discussions to discover Kim's wants, needs, hurts, and potential for growth? Or accept that the Korean War, which has never been declared over, is ramping up and bomb North Korea back into a civilized country?

Alice In Wonderland Comes To Beloit, Wisconsin

Invite the police to search your house for guns? Gee, of course. It's the New American Way:
Police in Beloit are launching a new effort to reduce gun violence in which they're asking city residents to volunteer to have police search their homes for guns.
Police Chief Norm Jacobs said he doesn't expect the phone to be ringing off the hook with requests for police to search their homes. He nevertheless hopes the program will encourage people to think about gun violence as an infectious disease like Ebola, and a home inspection like a vaccine to help build up the city's immune system.

"Gun violence is as serious as the Ebola virus is being represented in the media, and we should fight it using the tools that we've learned from our health providers,” he said.

I wonder how Mom will feel when the cops find an unregistered full auto assault bong in the attic.

New Hampshire Democrat on Libertarians in NH

The Free State Movement seems to be alive and well in New Hampshire, and some Democrats are not amused:
...not everyone in New Hampshire is welcoming the libertarians with open arms.

Cynthia Chase, a Democrat member of the state legislature, described them as “the biggest threat the state is facing today” and “wolves in sheep’s clothing”.

In a progressive blog she wrote: “There is, legally, nothing we can do to prevent them from moving here to take over the state, which is their openly stated goal.

“In this country you can move anywhere you choose and they have that same right.

“What we can do is to make the environment here so unwelcoming that some will choose not to come, and some may actually leave.”
How's that Valuing Diversity stuff working for you, Cynthia?

Voter ID?

The Daily Caller has a short piece on organizations promoting a Washington Post article which tells of the states which do not require voters to show identification.

I liked one comment:
OK.. let's get rid of photo ID for buying guns, buying liquor & tobacco, driving a car, cashing a welfare check, getting on an airplane, opening a bank account, etc etc.. and while we're at it.. I guess there's no more need for passports either.
Works for me.

Thirty Days for SpaghettiOs Residue

Sigh:
According to the Gainesville Times, police arrested Ashley Huff, 23, when they found a “suspicious residue” they believed to be meth on a spoon inside the car she was riding in.

Huff was subsequently charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Huff repeatedly told police that there was “no way in hell” that the substance was drug residue, according to Hall County assistant public defender Chris van Rossem.

Huff was unable to afford her bail and spent more than a month in jail while her attorney attempted to arrange a plea bargain.

She was released only after the crime lab finally came back with the results of its substance analysis.

It was spaghetti sauce.
I'm mighty glad I live in a free country. An unfree country would be really scary.

The New Civility = The New Totalitarianism

Robert F. Kennedy Jr thinks climate change "deniers" should be imprisoned. Others of his persuasion apparently think the Internet should be nationalized to deny those who disagree with them any chance of speaking to the proles.

That sounds pretty Kennedyesque to me. In fact, it seems downright Democratic.
